Protect Our Pledge of Allegiance
A Federal judge in California has once again banned the Pledge of Allegiance and the case now heads back to the 9th Circuit Court – the Court that originally ignited the Pledge controversy. Grassfire.org has led the fight to save the Pledge. Now, we are taking this battle to our leaders in Congress, supporting the Pledge Protection Act. This act will strip the federal courts of the ability to declare the Pledge unconstitutional!
Rep. Todd Akin (R-MI) has re-introduced The Pledge Protection Act (H.R. 699). To prevent secular attack, we are asking citizens to help us rally additional co-sponsors (currently104) and support for the Pledge Protection Act. Please contact their House leadership (202-224-3121 Capital Swithchboard) and urge your Congressman to support HR 699. With your help we can move it from the House Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties to the House floor for a vote.
Below is what our petition will state;
As a concerned citizen, I am signing this petition to express my support for the constitutionality of the Pledge of Allegiance and my outrage at efforts to ban the Pledge from public schools. The Pledge is a vital reminder of our nation’s heritage and a strong support for the values that make our nation great. I oppose any efforts through the courts or the legislature to ban the Pledge.
In addition, I support efforts to protect the Pledge of Allegiance, including the Pledge Protection Act which would prevent federal courts from declaring the Pledge unconstitutional.
